ABOUT MICHAEL ALEXANDER

Michael holds an AB from Harvard University, an MA from Ohio State University, an ABD from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Lasell University. Michael served as president of Lasell University for 16 years until June 2023. During his tenure as president, he oversaw the transition of Lasell College into a University. He also served as the CEO of Lasell Village, a premier senior living community located on the Lasell campus, and distinguished by the unique educational mandate for all residents. Prior to his years leading Lasell University and Lasell Village, Michael ran various companies in the entertainment and technology industries. Long ago, Michael was an assistant dean of freshmen at Harvard. For one year during that time, he sat on the Harvard undergraduate admissions committee. He later continued evaluating Harvard candidates for admission, interviewing applicants, and arranging alumni interviews, as the co-chair for recruiting in the Los Angeles area. This experience gave Michael valuable insight into the admissions process at one of the most prestigious and competitive institutions in the world. Michael continues his contribution to the Harvard community during the 2023-24 academic year as a president-in -residence at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

In addition to his extensive background in higher education, one of Michael’s specialties is guiding students who “have no idea” what they want to do next on a path to finding their true passions. Writing is another area of expertise for Michael. If you want your application essay(s) to stand out and be polished, he is the guy to have in your corner.

Michael recently moved to Florida to join his family on their small horse farm in Wellington, Florida, and commutes to Boston periodically. Luckily, with today’s technology, he is available to support students country-wide.

Michael is an avid reader, golfer, sports fanatic, and a dog magnet.
